According to investigators, two suspects — later identified as Homestead residents Alfredo Casanova, 29, and Jordan Montoya, 27 — were caught on security camera footage during that time.
But on Tuesday, deputies provided an update, explaining that the swans and eggs had been recovered.
“The swans and their eggs are back home!!!” the update reads. “Thanks to some tips and some fine detective work... detectives located the two swans and their six eggs in Cutler Bay, Florida.”
The sheriff’s office uploaded a video to YouTube showing deputies returning the animals to their home in Highland Village.
On Wednesday evening, the sheriff’s office announced that deputies had finally arrested Casanova after he turned himself in. He faces charges of burglary and grand theft.
“One down, one to go,” the post reads.
Meanwhile, investigators said they’re still searching for Montoya.
