The store, which has operated in Orlando for over 45 years, is known for its distinctive Mondrian art-style façade, but also for the murals along the sides of the building. Since 2015, Sam Flax has used the space to showcase local artists.

The 16 Orlando-area artists in this latest edition of the Wall Project will bring a new variety of murals to the Mills50 area, known for its plethora of public art.

To celebrate, Sam Flax is shutting down Altaloma Avenue from Colonial Drive to Hillcrest Street. There will be several local food vendors, led by Korean restaurant Shin Jung, a DJ, a movable art mural wall for interactive expression, and art demos.

There will also be free activities like a “paint your own skate deck” station set up by Plus Skate Shop, a kids’ sidewalk chalk area, Make and Take tables, and a kids’ paint station.

Sam Flax is hosting free raffles and in-store sales all day long.

People can park along the side streets around Sam Flax and walk to the store. Many of the parking lots in the area are privately owned and subject to towing.
