‘A really good kid:’ Community remembers Lake Nona teen killed in crash

17-year-old Anthony Sanchez killed, 2 others injured in crash

ORLANDO, Fla. – Family, friends and classmates of 17-year-old Anthony Sanchez gathered Sunday for a memorial service, just over a week after he was killed in a two-vehicle crash.

Patricia Mojica-Diaz, who said she had known Sanchez since he was 4 years old, joined a large group from Lake Nona High School to honor his memory.

“Anthony was a really good kid,” Mojica-Diaz said. “I hope his classmates can hold on to the good memories they have of him.”

Orlando police said Sanchez was killed and two others were injured in a crash near Narcoossee Road and Nonacrest Drive, west of State Road 417, just before noon on Feb. 12. Investigators said witnesses saw the two vehicles swerving through traffic at high speeds moments before the crash.

Authorities are also searching for two males who were seen leaving a Toyota Camry at the scene.

“I’m really going to miss him. Everyone is going to miss Anthony. He was a very happy, joyful person,”Diaz said. “He loved to joke around and he loved to eat.”

The two other people injured in the crash were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police are asking anyone with information about the two individuals they are seeking to come forward.
