The incident happened on Oct. 10 when a red Nissan Sentra entered the parking lot of Red Dot Shooting Inc. a little after 4 a.m., city officials said.
Three individuals got out of the vehicle and tried to enter the business, the post states. One individual, whom investigators identified as Williams, used a rifle to fire multiple shots at a window, as seen in the photo below. When he failed to shatter the window, he struck it with the butt of the rifle, then tried to kick the glass, investigators said.
After all attempts fail, another individual, identified as Chalk, can be seen telling Williams to get back in the car. The vehicle fled after all three suspects were inside, according to investigators.
Police also said the same suspects were involved in a similar break-in 30 minutes earlier that morning at Sicarios Gun Shop in Melbourne.
A four-month investigation by Rockledge and Melbourne police led to arrest warrants issued for the three suspects involved in both incidents, according to the city.
Three suspects were sought for the Melbourne incident, while two, Williams and Chalk, were charged in the Rockledge incident within the week of this report, officers said.
Both Williams and Chalk face charges of attempted armed burglary, shooting or throwing deadly missiles into a dwelling, public or private building, and criminal mischief with property damage exceeding $1,000, according to the police department.
The Rockledge Police Department does not have probable cause for the arrest of the third suspect at this time, the city said. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they’re asked to contact Investigator P. Boldt at 321-690-3988.
