Man arrested for ‘vulgar sexual comments’ to girls walking near their school, Sanford police say

SANFORD, Fla. – A 30-year-old man faces multiple charges after Sanford police said he made “vulgar sexual comments” to two young girls walking near their school, according to a news release.

Sanford police said that on Feb. 26 they responded to two separate service calls regarding similar incidents that were reported by two young females.

Officers reported that around 3 p.m. on S. Holly Avenue, between W. 20th Street and W. 24th Street, a man in a newer model silver sedan drove up to one of the girls and made the vulgar sexual comments. He never got out of the car, and he drove away.

Then, around 4:15 p.m., a man in a newer model silver sedan made similar comments toward another young girl on W. 24th Street, between Hartwell Avenue and S. Marshall Avenue.

Police announced on Tuesday that they arrested 30-year-old Edward Henry on Monday around 8:30 p.m., after an extensive investigation.

“I cannot commend these young women enough in coming forward and being the catalyst that put this disgusting predator behind bars,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said. “Our children should be able to walk to and from school, without fear of encountering such vulgar and sickening individuals. Their bravery got this predator off our streets and behind bars where he deserves to be.”

Henry faces charges of lewd lascivious behavior or lascivious battery victim Age 12 To 16, and public order crimes criminal solicitation felony second degree, according to the release.
