ORLANDO, Fla. – A Kissimmee man has been arrested after a violent Orange County street takeover last year, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said that the man — Adam Benouttas, 19 — was taken into custody on Thursday due to his involvement in several “coordinated street takeover events” around the area.

One of those large-scale takeovers happened back in November at the intersection of South John Young Parkway and Central Florida Parkway, troopers added. In the weeks following that event, deputies announced that they were searching for 30 people connected to the mob.

“A large group shut down an intersection, set a fire in the roadway, and used the space for cars to perform donuts around the flames,” the sheriff’s office explained. “The situation escalated as participants harassed innocent drivers, blocked them from passing, and in some cases, climbed on and damaged vehicles.”

According to the release, Benouttas was identified as one of the primary “sliders” during that takeover, performing dangerous stunt driving maneuvers like donuts in the intersection.

As a result, Benouttas now faces charges of disorderly conduct, inciting a riot, aggravated rioting, stunt driving, obstructing traffic for a street takeover, filming/recording a street takeover, and coordinating or facilitating a street takeover. He is held on bond of $26,500.

The FHP also urges any drivers who encounters street racing, stunt driving, or a roadway takeover to follow these guidelines:

  • Remain calm
  • Do not engage
  • If possible, safely pull over to the side of the road
  • Report the incident by calling *347 or 911

Alternatively, anyone with information about an upcoming street takeover event or any participants is asked to email StopRacing@flhsmv.gov with any relevant screenshots or documentation.
