Man accused of sexual battery in Marion County apprehended at Orlando airport, deputies say

OCALA, Fla. – A man was arrested while trying to board a flight after he was accused of multiple charges including sexual battery and lewd molestation, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Jose Godinez-Rodriguez, 49, was apprehended at the Orlando International Airport while trying to board a flight, deputies said.

In January, detectives were told that Godinez-Rodriguez had allegedly sexually abused a juvenile victim, according to the arrest affidavit.

The juvenile told detectives that Godinez-Rodriguez molested her on multiple occasions and provided recollections of the abuse and unwanted touching, the affidavit states.

Detectives tried to contact Godinez-Rodriguez but were unsuccessful, so a warrant was obtained for his arrest, according to the news release.

Through investigation of the initial report, detectives learned of another victim who disclosed that she was sexually abused when she was a child in Ocala, the affidavit said.

The victim, now an adult, disclosed multiple incidents of sexual abuse and molestation over several years, according to the affidavit.

On Feb. 25, detectives were notified that Godinez-Rodriguez was apprehended at the airport and taken to the Marion County Jail.

Godinez Rodriguez faces multiple charges including capital sexual battery, sexual battery by a person in custodial authority, lewd or lascivious conduct, simple battery, and four counts of lewd or lascivious molestation, according to the affidavit.
