‘Aircraft emergency’ pops up after plane crash lands in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An “aircraft emergency” popped up in Orange County on Wednesday afternoon as a plane was spotted on the ground, according to first responders.

Footage taken over the scene showed the plane in a wooded area northwest of Wedgefield with a bent wing and first responders surrounding the scene.

FAA data about the plane shows that it is a fixed-wing single-engine Cessna aircraft registered to GPI Geospatial in Orlando.

Orange County Fire Rescue announced on social media that the aircraft had made an “emergency landing” near the 1800 block of Newburg Street.

“(Two) souls on board, no injuries, no transports,” the post reads. “Also no fire, aircraft is intact. Large fuel spill.”

FAA officials later told News 6 that the plane had crash-landed in the field around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, sparking an investigation into what exactly happened.
