Orlando International Airport sees surge in travelers during spring break

MCO estimates 7.4M guests for spring break season

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando International Airport was bustling with activity Saturday morning as the spring break season kicked into high gear.

Upon arriving at the airport, many passengers were met with the sight of long lines in both the A and B terminals.

MCO estimates 7.4 million people will travel through the airport during the spring break season.

Tanya Cook was waiting in line this morning in Terminal A ahead of her flight.

“I mean, it’s long, I’m not used to it but it’s not too bad,” Cook said.

MCO said it expects 197,761 people to pass through on Saturday alone.

Marlon Awuma was waiting in line in the B terminal to check a bag ahead of his family’s flight to New York for spring break.

“It’s a little bit more than I expected actually,” Awuma said. “But it’s normal, it’s spring break.”

Awuma said they got there about 2.5 hours before their flight to make sure everything went smoothly.

Orlando International Airport is advising travelers to remember the “4 Ps” during the spring break season.

The first “P” stands for “pack.” MCO is suggesting customers pack lightly.

The second “P” stands for “park.” Guests are able to use the airport’s online reservation system to ensure they get a spot at the airport.

MCO wants people to remember “plane” for the third “P.” This means give yourself plenty of time to get through security to get to your plane.

Lastly, Orlando International Airport is asking people to “plan,” making this the fourth “P.” Airport officials suggest you check with your airline before heading to the airport for any changes or cancellations from your airline.

But Brad Saint, who is traveling to Canada with his family for spring break, may have the best travel hack of them all.

“You know what, I just listen to my wife and be where I need to be at the right time,” Saint said. “She’s actually the one who does all the planning. I just show up and move the bags.”
