Deputies said that a victim identified the moped passenger as a young person with dreadlocked hair as the one who pointed the weapon.
According to a news release, a witness also said they heard six gun shots after the moped left.
Deputies said that while looking for the suspects, they found the moped on the side of the road, but the driver – identified as 18-year-old Alexis Joel Diaz – took off.
“When he finally came to a stop, Diaz revealed the threat was real when he pulled a realistic-looking BB gun from his waistband and threw it,” the release read in part.
Diaz was then taken into custody, deputies said.
Another deputy was able to locate and arrest the juvenile passenger, which News 6 is not naming because of their age, not far from the traffic stop location.
That juvenile, who deputies said admitted to pointing the BB gun, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Diaz faces charges of fleeing and eluding and not having a valid driver’s license.
