Florida man won $2M prize from scratch-off game at this Publix store

Lary Pincince, 65, took lump sum of $1.28 million

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Lottery announced on Thursday that a man from The Villages claimed a $2 million top prize from a scratch-off game.

More specifically, the man — identified as 65-year-old Lary Pincince — won the prize from the $2,000,000 100X CASHWORD Scratch-Off game, lottery officials revealed.

According to the Florida Lottery, Pincince bought the winning ticket from a Publix store at 5810 Seven Mile Drive in Wildwood, meaning the store received a $4,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Pincince chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1.28 million.

“Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74% of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024,” lottery officials wrote. “Additionally, since inception, Scratch-Off games have awarded more than $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and generated more than $19.8 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.”

Florida Lottery officials also explained that the $2,000,000 100X CASHWORD Scratch-Off game offers over $220 million in cash prizes, including eight top prizes of $2 million.
