ORLANDO, Fla. – The non-profit organization, Light Orlando, is hosting its annual community closet clean-out event on April 26, but it needs help.
The group shared in a news release that it needs 120 volunteers for the event to help sort, fold, and bag donated clothing. Other responsibilities may be loading donated bags of clothes into vehicles, per its website.

The event will be at 3001 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This is more than just clothing—it’s about giving people confidence, warmth, and a sense of dignity, a Light Orlando spokesperson said in a prepared statement. “Our volunteers are essential to making that happen.”
Last year, the Spring Community Closet event had over 56,000 items processed with more than 750 pairs of shoes distributed to those in need, according to a news release.
The clothes and shoes are donated to families across Central Florida through Light Orlando’s charity partners such as the Coalition for the Homeless, Christian Service Center and One Heart Foundation.
Meanwhile, Light Orlando is collecting gently used clothing for the event at the following drop-off locations until April 25:
- Light Orlando, 2551 Lynx Lane, Orlando
- Clarita’s House Outreach Ministry Inc., 1712 Kelly Ave., Kissimmee *Donations accepted here until April 20th*
- BFARR Contracting, 3500 Alona Ave, Winter Park and 310 Brunson Ave. Suite 106, Cocoa
- The Salvation Army, 416 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando
- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3001 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando and 8450 Silver Star Rd., Orlando and 701 W. Wetherbee Road, Orlando.
