‘Domestic in nature:’ Victims found safe after being kidnapped at Orange County Walmart

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two victims of a kidnapping at an Orange County Walmart are safe after being found on Saturday and the man deputies said is responsible is behind bars, according to a news release.

Deputies said they responded to the store located at 2271 North Semoran Boulevard around 1:30 p.m. regarding a kidnapping.

According to officials, the suspect – later identified as 30-year-old Makence St. Hilaire – followed the victims into the Walmart, “discharged a weapon one time,” before leading them to a vehicle.

Deputies later described the incident as “domestic in nature,” saying the victims were St. Hilaire’s child and the mother of the child.

According to the release, St. Hilaire then left the scene before law enforcement arrived.

The victims were later located safe on the same day and no injuries were reported.

Deputies said St. Hilaire is in custody and faces charges of of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, and kidnapping.
