Dr. Lily J. Voepel operates the medical office where three confirmed cases of hepatitis C infections have been directly linked, according to a report by the Florida Department of Health.

Hepatitis C, which can cause liver failure and be fatal, is primarily transmitted through contaminated blood. Although the disease is curable, it poses significant health risks.

All patients who received medical care at this facility are advised to undergo testing for the hepatitis C virus, according to the notification.

“Hepatitis C often has no symptoms in its early stages, so testing is important for early detection. However, if left untreated, the virus can cause serious complications, including liver damage and liver cancer. Treatment options are available for individuals who do test positive,” the health department said.

The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County advises affected patients to:

  • Contact Your Health Care Provider: If you received medical care at Lily J. Voepel, MD, Interventional Pain Management, it is recommended that you speak with your health care provider to discuss potential risks and the need for hepatitis C and other bloodborne disease testing.
  • Get Tested: If advised by your healthcare provider, make arrangements to get tested. Walk-in testing for hepatitis C is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following location:
