MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods announced on Wednesday that deputies are looking for a man who ran over an elderly woman with a go-kart.

In a video statement, Woods said that the man — identified as Delvon Thornton, 32 — was driving the go-kart when he got in an argument with the 66-year-old woman.

But during the argument, Thornton allegedly ran her over, Woods added.

According to investigators, deputies found the woman with several wounds on her body and face.

“Several of her teeth were broken. That’s what he did,” Woods said. “My category? Dirt of the Earth.”

Thornton is wanted on a charge of aggravated battery on a person over 65.

However, Woods explained that Thornton has already been to the county jail nine times in the past.

“So I doubt he is going to do the right thing by turning himself in,” Woods stated.

Anyone with information on Thornton’s whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-7867 and reference 25-12 in the tip.

Tips leading to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward, the sheriff said.
