Leesburg Bikefest returns this weekend, and businesses are revving up

Annual event runs through April 27

LEESBURG, Fla. – Businesses in downtown Leesburg are preparing for a big weekend ahead of Bikefest 2025.

The three-day festival kicks off on April 25 and runs through April 27.

Signs are up welcoming bikers, vendor tents are popping up, and local businesses are getting ready for the busy weekend.

Lemmy’s Gourmet Italian Ice and Sorbet is preparing to make its debut this weekend with a soft opening.

Lemmy’s owner, Brittany Leonard, said the timing for opening could not have been more perfect. She said they will be busy placing the final touches on the shop ahead of the weekend.

“We couldn’t have planned it any better than to kick it off with Bikefest,” Leonard said. “We are so excited to welcome the bikers. The business is very much needed here in downtown, but we are growing so much, so fast.”

Other businesses like Brick and Barrel Public House and the adjoining Brick and Barrel Lounge are also gearing up for the weekend.

Shelby Anderson is a bartender for Brick and Barrel and said they’re coming up on 6 years in business. Having been through Bikefest in the past, they’ve learned to load up on everything from alcohol to cleaning supplies.

“It’s all about bulk,” Anderson said. “It’s about making sure you have everything you need.”

She said the revenue from Bikefest allows them to have more flexibility throughout the year.

“What Bike Fest allows us to do is put a little bit more into the reserves so that we can get creative with the menu,” Anderson said. “We’re going to change up things. We can pay our people a little bit more. You know, having a little bit more in the coffers allows a little bit more flexibility and a lot less stress throughout the rest of the year.”
