SWAT team raids Brevard County home after month-long investigation

Scott McElman, 40, faces several drug-related charges

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A SWAT team struck a home in Brevard County on Friday morning as part of a month-long drug investigation, according to the Cocoa Beach Police Department.

In a release, detectives said they worked with the sheriff’s office’s SWAT team to execute a search warrant around 9 a.m. at 285 Corona Ave.

“During the operation, a significant quantity of narcotics and drug paraphernalia was discovered inside the home,” the release reads.

As a result of the search, the man living at the home — identified as 40-year-old Scott McElman — was arrested and now faces the following charges:

  • Trafficking in fentanyl
  • Possession of methamphetamines
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Violation of pre-trail release conditions

“The arrest follows a month-long investigation by Cocoa Beach detectives, who gathered sufficient evidence to obtain the search warrant,” the release continues.

Per deputies, McElman had previously been arrested by Cocoa Beach police in 2022 on similar drug-related charges, though he was out on bond awaiting trial when Friday’s SWAT raid occurred.
