MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The man sought by Marion County deputies over the last week, accused of using a go-kart to run over an elderly woman, has been arrested, according to the sheriff’s office.
Delvon Thornton, 32, was arrested Thursday after being located in a vehicle at the Red Roof Inn on W Highway 40, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said on social media.

Thornton faces charges of aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, records show.
Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods earlier this week said in a video statement that Thornton was driving the go-kart when he got in an argument with the 66-year-old woman, allegedly running her over during the altercation.
Deputies located the woman with several wounds to her body and face, according to Woods.
“Several of her teeth were broken. That’s what he did,” Woods said. “My category? Dirt of the Earth.”
Thornton was being held on $14,500 bond at the time of this report.
