ORLANDO, Fla. – Attorneys for former Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill, who’s accused of exploiting an elderly woman out of more than $100,000, were in court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing.

Hill was in court alongside her legal team as they asked for more time to prepare for Hill’s trial and said they’re still taking depositions, and one witness refuses to answer questions.

Hill, who maintains her innocence, was scheduled to go to trial next month; however, a judge set a status hearing for Aug. 13, therefore delaying the trial.

A hearing is scheduled for May 5 to discuss subpoenas for other witnesses.

Prosecutors claim Hill convinced the 96-year-old woman to give her power of attorney, then drained her life savings to buy a house, get a facelift and other expenditures.
