REPORT: Trump expected to pick US Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida for secretary of state

President-elect Donald Trump has selected Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio to take on the role of his secretary of state, according to Reuters on Monday.

If accepted for the role, it would make Rubio the first Latino to serve in the position.

Miami-born Rubio, the son of U.S. immigrants from Cuba, was first elected in 2010 and now serves in his third term in the U.S. Senate. Before that, he acted as speaker in the Florida House of Representatives.

Aside from Rubio, Trump has already picked out some key members for his administration following his election win, including Susie Wiles for chief of staff and Rep. Mike Waltz for national security advisor.
