As the nation prepares for the presidential inauguration, excitement is building across Central Florida.
Orange County School Board Member Alicia Farrant expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I’m super excited to be a part of history.”
Farrant, along with Orange County GOP Chair Erin Huntley, will be attending the events with their families.
“Florida is really a beacon of freedom for the country, and we are looking forward to bringing some of that freedom to Washington, D.C.,” Huntley said.
The weekend festivities will commence with a reception and fireworks at Trump’s golf course in Sterling, Virginia, on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, the president-elect will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, followed by a rally at the Capitol One Arena in Washington.
Inauguration Day will begin with services at St. John’s Church in Lafayette Square, followed by tea at the White House. The swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol Building is scheduled for noon, and it will be followed by the inauguration parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.
The evening will end with three inaugural balls in D.C.: the Commander in Chief Ball, the Liberty Inaugural Ball, and the Starlight Ball. The new president plans to attend all three events.
News 6’s Matt Austin will be traveling to Washington, D.C., this weekend to cover the inauguration. If you are also attending, you can reach out to him via email at maustin@wkmg.com.
