Public services set in Orlando for Florida Senator Geraldine Thompson

Longtime Orlando lawmaker died last week

ORLANDO, Fla. – The community will get to pay its respects to the late State Sen. Geraldine Thompson later this month in Orlando.

A public viewing has been set for Thursday, Feb. 27 at Majestic Life Church on Kirkman Road from 3 - 5 p.m.

A Homegoing Service is set for the following day at 11 a.m. at the same church. Women are asked to wear scarves at the Homegoing Service in Thompson’s honor.

Thompson, a longtime Florida state senator representing West Orange County, died last week from complications following knee replacement surgery. She was 76.

In addition to being a lawmaker, Thompson was also an Orange County public school teacher and the founder of the Wells’Built Museum of African American History and Culture in Orlando.
