Rocket brings cargo to the International Space Station

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. – SpaceX launched the CRS-SpX28 mission Monday, sending a Cargo Dragon 2 capsule laden with supplies to the International Space Station from Kennedy Space Center.

It was the third launch attempt for SpaceX, which was delayed on Sunday because of high winds in the booster recovery area. It was originally scheduled for Saturday.

The Falcon 9 launch is SpaceX’s 28th commercial resupply mission. The Dragon cargo capsule is carrying 2 solar array blankets, 2,420 lbs. of supplies for the crew, 1,082 lbs. of vehicle hardware and 586 lbs. of science gear.

After launch and separation, the first stage booster for the rocket landed on the “A Shortfall of Gravitas” droneship in the Atlantic Ocean.

Dragon is expected to dock with the space station on Tuesday morning.
