ULA said the rocket will carry a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office, the NROL-70 mission.
ULA tried to launch the Delta IV Heavy last week, but an issue with the gaseous nitrogen pipeline forced crews to scrub the launch, and more than a day was needed to solve the problem.
The first rocket in the Delta IV Heavy program launched in 2002 and serviced the U.S. Air Force’s Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program.
The launch planned for next week will be the final launch for Delta IV’s medium or heavy variants. It’s being replaced with the Vulcan rocket program.
