Hey everyone, it’s meteorologist Michelle Morgan and I’ve got some good news—Florida’s warm weather is back! But January didn’t start off this way.

Aug. 31: National Eat Outside Day

January started off cold, with cities like Orlando, Daytona Beach, Sanford, Leesburg, and Melbourne all ranking in the top 10 for average cold temperatures. But things have definitely turned around!

Chief meteorologist Candace Campos has all the details on the 80-degree weather coming our way.

Wondering where Central Florida ranks now after those 70s we’ve been having?

The end of the freezing weather for Central Florida?

Welcome back to the Pinpoint Weather Newsletter for the LAST Thursday of January! Can’t believe we’re already on final approach for February 2025, time is just ripping by!

I’m digital meteorologist David Nazario taking a close look at whether or not we are FINISHED with freezing temperatures here in central Florida.

Climate Prediction Center holds steady in their long range forecast expecting warmer temps to continue to extend further into us in Florida and much of the south and east US (WKMG 2025)

We all managed to survive the brunt of what winter had to offer during the latter half of January, where the greater Orlando area dipped into the freezing temperatures, especially during this past weekend. Weather whiplash was a real thing, it truthfully felt like we were in the boxing ring going toe to toe with Mother Nature and the different combos she was dealing.

Now we’re warming up, and quite rapidly. In just 24 hours Florida bounced back from arctic temperatures to about average for this time of year. Friday, we’re finally looking at a return to 80-degree temps for our viewing area! The first time we’ve hit 80 in the year 2025!

Turning our attention to the long-range, big-picture pattern, it does seem like maybe a weak cool spell or two is in order, but I’m not seeing any big-time arctic invasions through the month of February into early March. Could this change? It’s weather! Of course it can, however at the grand scale, looking at connections and patterns at a global/hemispheric scale it seems like Florida could very well be over with the frost, freeze, and “winter storm” threats going forward.

The Future of Education Technology Conference features drones, AI, and two furry guest stars

It’s meteorologist Julie Broughton here with your Getting Results in Our Schools segment. This week photojournalist Paul Giorgio and I visited the Future of Education Technology Conference at the Orange County Convention Center.

That’s where we met the co-founder of Scholar Education, an AI-powered platform that aims to take the fear out of AI. Be sure to watch my full story to see the adorable inspiration behind the virtual AI assistants.

I always love shining a spotlight on students, educators, and schools in our community doing great things. If you have an idea, I’d love to hear about it. Email me at jbroughton@wkmg.com to tell me more!
