Sonic Prep Player of the Week: CJ Kearns

Kearns plays basketball at Rockledge High School

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – At 14-5, high aspirations remain strong for the Rockledge High School boys’ basketball team.

Senior CJ Kearns is leading the charge for the Raiders. The 6′8″ power forward is doing a little bit of everything for the team, averaging nearly double figures in points along with eight rebounds and four assists a game.

And the future is bright for Kearns. When he’s done leading the Raiders, Kearns will take his game and intelligence to the United States Naval Academy. He plans to study engineering.

Kearns and his family visited Annapolis and immediately fell in love with the Academy.

“I got to meet all the coaches,” Kearns told News 6. “I got to meet some of the players. I got to see campus; campus was amazing. It was such a pretty place...They had a good program and ran a good practice. I was also able to see the game, which they executed exactly what they were going over in practice. The education there is top tier. They have a great basketball program. Everything about that school seems right to me.”
