Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Skyler Cloud

Cloud plays softball at Eustis High School

EUSTIS, Fla. – Skyler Cloud had to wait her turn to pitch on the Eustis High School softball team.

“Throughout the summer and throughout the offseason, I made sure to be working every day, whether it was lessons and working with my pitching coach or just working out in the yard with my dad,” Cloud said.

Cloud’s patience paid off, big time. Some of the senior pitcher’s accolades: a 20-1 record, a 1.59 ERA, and a state championship.

“Even though she didn’t get mound time last year, to see her come back this year and prove to us that she deserved to be on this mound her senior year was incredible,” Eustis softball head coach Brittany Beall told News 6.

Pitching at Eustis isn’t easy. The softball program competes annually for state titles.

But that didn’t phase Cloud, who will be heading to Seminole State College in the fall.

“I feel like the pressure is motivating,” Cloud added. “It’s inspiring to be the best I can be, and I know my teammates can say the same.”

It was a perfect match for Cloud, competing in pressure with the highest of expectations.

“It’s helped me really become who I am and help me trust myself and just to trust the girls behind me and my coaches.”
