The Lake Mary Little League All-Star team defeated South Carolina on Thursday in the first round of the 2024 Southeast Region in Warner Robins, Georgia.
After a pitcher’s duel early in the game, Lake Mary scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning.
South Carolina loaded the bases with two outs and scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and had runners in scoring position in the bottom of the sixth, but Lake Mary held on for a 5-3 win.
Up next for Lake Mary is North Carolina, which beat Georgia earlier in the day 8-5. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday.
Whichever team wins the Region will advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsyvania.
