Orlando boxer receives triumphant homecoming from Paris Olympics

Omari Jones won Olympic bronze in 156 lb. weight class

ORLANDO, Fla. – If Omari Jones’ Olympic experience was unforgettable, you’d have to say his homecoming was too.

The Orlando native and Edgewater High School grad was serenaded with “U.S.A.” chants from dozens of friends and family members at Orlando International Airport Monday evening.

Jones returned from the Summer Games in Paris, where he earned a bronze medal in boxing’s 156 lb. weight class in his first trip to the Olympics.  Jones was the only American boxer to medal at the 2024 Games, and he was all smiles as he embraced loved ones at the airport.

“It feels great, knowing that all my hard work and dedication paid off coming to this point,” Jones said. “Since I was a child I’ve been working for this, and this has been a goal for me, my team, my supporters, everyone who is with me.  You know, everybody believed and it’s no surprise that I’m here.  This has been like the biggest turnout meeting me here at the airport.”
