Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Trey Butkowski

Butkowski plays football at Lake Nona High School

ORLANDO, Fla. – Trey Butkowski enjoys splitting the uprights at Lake Nona High School, but the football kicker recently made history.

The senior soccer player-turned-football kicker had an incredible game last week, booting a 51-yard field goal and a 58-yard field goal, the longest in Lake Nona program history.

“The main thing I was thinking was just not over-swing,” Butkowski told News 6. “We’ve done it in practice a million times. Just trusting my guys, and I was able to connect.”

Butkowski said he can make it from 68 yards.

Ranked among the top kickers in the country, Butkowski has college offers and hopes to make it to the NFL someday. He reflected on his history-making kicks.

“(My teammates) weren‘t really saying much. A lot of yelling going on, a lot of ’Let‘s go!’ It was just fun, really good experience to have with my friends,” he said.
