MIAMI, Fla. – In a first time appearance, Lake Mary High School becomes the Class 7A football state runner-up, after losing 52-19 to Venice in the state championship.
“It wasn’t Lake Mary football,” Lake Mary head coach Scott Perry said after the game. “We didn’t play very well today. But hats off to [Venice]. But I’m proud of my guys; we had a great season and overcame a lot to get here. Lake Mary is a force to be reckon with now.”

It was only a 7-6 game in favor of Venice early in the first half. But the Lake Mary Rams gave up 24 points in the second quarter.

Rams star quarterback and Notre Dame commit Noah Grubbs had three touchdowns and two interceptions. He said after the game the moment wasn’t too big; it just wasn’t Lake Mary’s day.
“I believe it just wasn’t us,” Grubbs said. “Obviously, [Venice] has been here the last four years, so they have experience. I believe it just wasn’t Lake Mary football today.”
The Lake Mary Rams finish the season 12-2 after appearing in the football state championship for the first time in school history.
