DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Cool, dry weather and 24 hours of racing are in the forecast for Daytona International Speedway this weekend.
The Rolex 24 begins this Saturday at 1:40 pm and ends Sunday at 1:40 pm. 61 of the fastest Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Mercedes, Corvettes, Cadillacs and more will take to the road course for the world-famous marathon.
It’s the 63rd edition of the race but the first for Cocoa Beach native Eric Filgueiras as a driver. He remembers attending the Rolex 24 as a kid with his father. Now 30 years old, Eric is one of the drivers of the #80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes in the GT Daytona field.
He told News 6 that he will have plenty of family at the World Center of Racing watching him this weekend navigate the Rolex.
