WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Little League World Series championship game on Sunday marked the most-watched game since 2015, with over 5.4 million people tuning in at one point, according to the league.

The game featured the Lake Mary All-Stars and Chinese Taipei, with Lake Mary rallying to win 2-1 in eight innings to claim the title.

“It was the greatest feeling ever,” said Lake Mary’s Lathan Norton, who scored the winning run. “I still haven’t had time to let it all sink in, but it feels like the most amazing thing ever.”

According to the Little League, the game averaged 3.5 million viewers, which was up 20% from the previous year.

The Little League also said the U.S. championship game on Saturday marked the most-watched U.S. championship game since 2015. The Lake Mary All-Stars won 10-7 against Boerne, Texas, in the U.S. championship game.

It was the first championship in nine tries for Florida.

“We came here to do something. We came here to do a job, and today we accomplished that job,” Florida manager Jonathan Anderson said. “We took a loss to Texas, we battled all the way back and here we are to talk about how we won this whole thing.”

Lake Mary is planning to host a parade this Saturday, calling it a “once-in-a-lifetime celebration.”

News 6 will stream the parade celebration on Saturday, Aug. 31, live on TV and ClickOrlando.com.
