ORLANDO, Fla. – There are only a few people who can call the Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World “home” and Chrissy Daniels is one of them.

“I just knew I wanted to work at Disney, but I wasn’t really sure where and my son worked in watercraft, and he said, ‘Mom, you will love it here. You’ll love the people. They are just like you. You’ll love the boats,” Daniels explained.

Daniels is a watercraft cast member and is “earning her ears” as a pilot at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom but before she took on the magical role, Daniels served our country proudly through the U.S. Navy.

“I decided to follow the path of my mom and kind of be a Maverick,” she said.

Daniels said she joined the Navy after her mother did in the 1950s. Daniels said she served on bases across the country and helped establish the Navy Air Station Join Reserve in Fort Worth, Texas.

After retiring, she said her focus was family because she wanted to take time to be a mom.

“I spent 20 years in the Navy and then I retired and took some time off to be a mom and being a mom is what brought me to Disney,” she said.

While being close to the water is fun, it’s being with her son that makes the job special and creating special memories with visitors from all over the world.

“One of my favorite guests was a 10-year-old little girl on the launch that I was driving, and she looked at me and said you’re the best captain we’ve ever had, and you’re a girl,” Daniels said.
