BAY LAKE, Fla. – The Maharajah Jungle Trek is the place for adventure and cute encounters as “Up” characters Dug, Russell, and Carl got to meet a popular resident at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Walt Disney World shared footage of the adorable meet-up with Bakso, a Sumatran tiger cub, and his mother, Sohni.

The trio also met up with a Wilderness Explorer and a Maharajah Jungle Trek educator, who were on their own quest to earn a tiger badge.

Making his debut in January, not only has the 6-month-old tiger cub been drawing guests, but Bakso has made a significant impact worldwide.
With fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, his presence highlights the importance of conservation efforts. Bakso also symbolizes Disney’s partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in supporting the Species Survival Plan (SSP), which aims to strengthen endangered species populations globally.

Families visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom can learn about conservation and the importance of protecting endangered species like Bakso through the Wilderness Explorers Program. The theme park offers a unique opportunity for families to experience wildlife and connect with nature in a fun and educational setting. Participation in the Wilderness Explorers Program is complimentary for all guests with park admission.
The Maharajah Jungle Trek, a walk-through attraction for all heights and ages, is commonly open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the park’s Asia section.
Guests’ best chance of catching the tiger mom and cub are in the morning hours.
