ORLANDO, Fla. – It was supposed to be the year Blue Man Group made their return to Orlando, but it’s unclear when the iconic performance-art troupe will be moving into Icon Park.

In September, Orange County leaders broke ground on a 500-seat theater beneath the Orlando Eye, a theater custom-designed for Blue Man Group’s multi-sensory performances, which will include state-of-the-art audio, lighting, and video technology.

In October, Blue Man Group announced tickets were on sale for performances starting April 3.

On Tuesday, Sky 6 flew over the construction site, showing just a dirt plot.

News 6 received the following statement regarding the delay:

“Blue Man Group is thrilled to be returning to Orlando at ICON Park. The group’s new home will be the bald, blue trio’s first ever theater built from the ground up. Unfortunately, that comes with occasional challenges. We continue to work hard to make progress, and we can’t wait to bring Orlando all the surprising, fun and iconic moments you have come to expect from Blue Man Group.”

Known for entertaining audiences with elaborate performances with color and music, Blue Man Group announced its return to Orlando last year. The group previously held a residency at Universal Orlando Resort for 14 years.

Blue Man Group did not give a reason for the delay.

Guests who have been affected have been contacted directly for refunds or can email OrlandoTickets@blueman.com

According to the online calendar on the Blue Man Group’s website, tickets are for sale starting May 29.
