BAY LAKE, Fla. – Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Friday debuted its three newest additions: baby otters!
The otter pups — Butternut, Biscuit, and Potato — are Asian small-clawed otters, the smallest otter species, according to Disney. They are also the first otter pups born at the park since 2018.

They were born in December to their parents, Mae and Kevin, and have been learning “how to be an otter.”
These types of otters are born with their eyes closed, and it can take several weeks before their eyes open and they can start learning how to swim and eat foods.
“They are reliant on their parents to teach them necessary behaviors, as they are not a species that relies too heavily on natural-born instinct,” a release reads.

These three new additions debuted days after a new giraffe joined the savanna at Animal Kingdom.
Giraffe calf Tucker’s birth marked the first giraffe calf born at Walt Disney World Resort since 2021.
“Little Tucker is a beacon of hope for us, and for this incredible animal, this crazy-looking, gangly. A funny creature that is just such an iconic animal of the savannas of Africa," said Dr. Mark Penning, vice president of Disney’s Animal, Science and Environment.
