Last month, the Oviedo City Council unanimously agreed to change the name of the road. “She was not just a citizen of Oviedo, she was a legacy in Oviedo, and she’s left her lasting mark here,” Jenkins said. Jenkins said the street sign is a symbol of what her mother accomplished. “She’s looking down, she’s smiling, she’s thanking the residents of Oviedo, she’s thanking her family, OCIA, that you all honored me, you loved me and thank God,” Jenkins said.

These children would not have anything to open on Christmas if it wasn’t for the community and this event,” said Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida V.P. While the officers were inside, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer was outside dressed as Santa for the morning, raising money for the Boys & Girls Club on the radio. Orlando police officers and Shades, with the Orlando Solar Bears, went on a shopping trip for 10 children this Christmas. Academy Sports also donated some equipment to the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida and presented them with $1,000, a gifts they hope will help support local kids through after school programming and mentorship.
