Defense attorneys are working to overturn the conviction of a man who was driving three friends who died when they were hit by a wrong-way driver in December 2022

A 24-year-old man who was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles that killed a TikTok influencer and two others was found guilty after a trial and could spend up to life in prison, according to a news release from the 7th Judicial Circuit.

On the latest in a fatal crash that killed three people in Volusia County late last year, the man whose car was struck by a wrong-way driver as he ferried the victims — yet faces homicide and reckless driving charges of his own — has bonded out of jail at the request of some victims’ family members.

Months after a high-speed, head-on crash that left three people dead on State Road 44 in Volusia County late last year, the District 7 State Attorney’s Office announced Friday that the drivers of both vehicles involved have been arrested and face charges in the fatal wreck.
