Brave thrill seekers in Central Florida found themselves 428 feet in the air Friday to help a Central Florida nonprofit. Give Kids the World Village hosted its annual event Over the Edge, which takes participants to the top of the 32-story Hyatt Regency Orlando and lets them rappel down the side of the building to raise money for the village. From wish children and athletes to the CEO of GKTW, everyone in attendance was there for one reason: to raise money for children staying at the village. KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Give Kids the World Village is welcoming families back almost a year after the resort was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pamela Landwirth, the President & CEO of the GKTW Village, said the resort shut down in March. She said she can’t wait to welcome families back on Sunday. “Sadly from the time we closed until now roughly 6,000 children have had their wishes postponed to come here and you can imagine the disappointment for these kids,” Landwirth said.
