The same night the Tampa Bay Lightning won the championship game, Busch Gardens welcomed a new giraffe calf.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom now has a new addition: a Masai giraffe calf.

Baby giraffe in Tennessee zoo dies after its stepped on by mom. A baby giraffe has died after being accidentally stepped on by her mother. The mother, Nasha, gave birth to the calf on Saturday at the Nashville Zoo. Pongo, the giraffe, lived at ZooMiami for more than a decade. MIAMI – A 12-year-old giraffe dealing with worsening hoof issues was euthanized, officials at Zoo Miami said. The giraffe named Pongo had been dealing with issues that included fractures, pain and difficulty walking, the zoo said in a statement posted Monday on Facebook. The health team performed a series of treatments, hoping that Pongo would heal without the need to immobilize for a second time, the statement said. “The painful decision was made to euthanize him while he was still under anesthesia,” the statement said.
