That giant blob of stinky seaweed that was headed to Florida earlier this year has shrunk, and what’s out there is less than scientists have seen in recent years.

A giant, smelly seaweed blob that stretches from west Africa to the Gulf of Mexico continues to shrink increasing the chances that its impact to Florida will be less than feared.

The massive blob of seaweed that started stinking up Florida beaches earlier this year has started to shrink, according to researchers at the University of South Florida.

There's a pesky problem in a wide stretch of the Atlantic Ocean that's likely to wash up on some beaches later this year: Seaweed.
