People who live in the Victoria Commons neighborhood in DeLand are puzzled over what they call a "sudden" and "strange" animal kill.

The Shadowbay Club HOA shared Tuesday that Seminole County has issued the woman who filled a drainage pipe with concrete on her property in the Longwood Shadow Bay community Longwood a 15-day extension to fix or replace the pipe.

A “Notice of Code Violation” was presented to the homeowner after she hired a crew in April to fill a stormwater pipe on her property with concrete.

Robin Rodriguez — an HOA board member in the Shadow Bay community in Longwood — said she is afraid flooding will become normal in their neighborhood.

The U.S. could have 240 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by the end of March. Pfizer and Moderna have pledged to have a combined 220 million doses available for shipment. A suspected drunk driver was arrested in Oregon with a blood alcohol level nine times the legal limit, according to KTVZ.com. VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old woman was killed in a head-on crash Monday evening in Volusia County, officials said. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say around 6 p.m. the woman was driving a car west on State Road 46 at Morgan Alderman Road, near the St. Johns River. A 28-year-old driver heading east lost control of his van and crossed onto oncoming traffic, striking the woman’s sedan head-on, a crash report said. A 19-year-old passenger in the woman’s car was badly injured and taken to a hospital, according to troopers. The FHP said the driver of the van suffered minor injuries.

"The reason we moved into Westyn Bay was because of the trees," said Myra Couzo, who has lived in the gated subdivision since it was built nearly a decade ago. Since Westyn Bay is a gated community, the HOA - not the city - is responsible for maintaining sidewalks and roads within the community. The HOA recently decided to cut down trees in order to minimize repair and liability costs. The Westyn Bay Homeowners Association is holding an informational meeting Monday night about the issue. Although the HOA board has already approved the tree removal plan, some homeowners hope the HOA board will reverse its decision.
