The chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee is looking into how a former police officer landed an investigator's job at the U.S. Center for SafeSport despite sex-crime allegations that littered his past, while also asking if the center knew he had been accused of newer crimes when working there last year.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport will add a morals clause to its code of conduct, and the CEO will start interviewing job candidates herself in the wake of the arrest of a former investigator who was charged with rape and other sex crimes.

The leader of the U.S. Center for SafeSport wrote in an email that the revelation of a former investigator’s arrest on rape charges was “just sickening,” while also saying there was no reason to believe he’d committed any wrongdoing while working for the center.

An investigator fired from his job at the U.S. Center for SafeSport for allegedly stealing money seized at a drug bust has been arrested again.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport abruptly fired one of its investigators last month after learning he’d been arrested for stealing money confiscated after a drug bust he was part of during his previous job as a police officer.
