VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a crash involving a motorcycle in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred near Volco Road and 35th Street at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Troopers said the motorcycle was heading west on Volvo Road when for an unknown reason, the male operator of the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve. Troopers said the motorcycle struck a pole and the man and a female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A man on a motorcycle was killed after crashing into a SUV that entered into his direct path, causing that vehicle to overturn, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a Kia Sorrento was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Celery Avenue around 10:25 a.m. Thursday when the driver attempted to turn left onto Lake Mary Boulevard, entering the direct path of an approaching motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the left side of the Kia, causing the SUV to overturn, records show. Seminole County Fire Department officials said the 42-year-old woman driving was trapped in the vehicle but has since been taken to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The 49-year-old Deltona man on the motorcycle died at the scene of the crash, according to the report.

DAVIE, Fla. – A North Carolina man died in South Florida over the weekend after crashing his motorcycle on an expressway ramp and being thrown over a barrier wall, authorities said. The man had been riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the ramp to head south on the turnpike when he lost control and hit the barrier wall, FHP said. The man was thrown from the bike and fell more than 30 feet. The motorcycle came to rest on the ramp. The man was wearing a helmet, troopers said.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 63-year-old Ohio man was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Kia Forte Saturday in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 2 a.m. near U.S. 1 and Wiley Avenue. The FHP said a motorcyclist was traveling south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 as the Kia Forte traveled north on U.S. 1. The motorcycle and car crashed head-on, according to officials. The 63-year-old motorcyclist died at a hospital, authorities said.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old Sanford man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thanksgiving night, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The FHP said Francis Mascaro died in the wreck, which happened around 9 p.m. on State Road 429 near State Road 46. 429 when he lost control of his bike, which struck a curb and culvert. Mascaro, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike, according to troopers. The crash is under investigation.
