The Supervisor of Elections in Volusia County wants to get the word out: A special election is coming up and if you want to vote by mail, you have less than a month to request a ballot.

After weeks of debate between the Orange County Commission and the Supervisor of Elections office, the county has taken steps to ensure employees are paid during the holidays.

The Orange County supervisor of elections spent more money than the state of Florida allows, according to a new report from Comptroller Phil Diamond.

The battle over the Orange County supervisor of elections' budget escalated Monday as Supervisor Glen Gilzean accused the county of misrepresenting the state of the office’s finances, and County Comptroller Phil Diamond demanded more documents as part of his investigation.

The early voting period for Central Florida is officially over, and multiple counties are having record breaking numbers.

Orange County’s Supervisor of Elections invited the public to witness the pre-election testing of automated tabulating and voting equipment Friday morning.

Thursday was the first day of early voting in Lake County and people were in and out of the the Supervisor of Elections office casting ballots.

The rent stabilization ordinance, passed by the Orange County commission Wednesday in a close 4-3 vote, now heads to the Supervisor of Elections to be placed on the ballot in November.

ORLANDO, Fla. – As election workers make final preparations for Election Day, Orange County’s Supervisor of Elections is answering last-minute questions for voters preparing to cast their ballots. If a voter is still holding onto a vote-by-mail ballot, Cowles said it’s too late to send it in the mail. For anyone arriving near the time when polls close, Cowles urged voters to stay in line until their ballot is cast. Cowles said workers at his office are available to answer any questions about Election Day. We had a record turnout, we had almost 70,000 people and we’ve had a 62% turnout countywide with early voting and mail ballots."

Time is running out if you plan to send back your mail-in ballot through the post office, according to several elections officials in Central Florida. “Now it’s time to bypass putting that mail-in ballot in the mail,” Brigham said. Voters can drop off their mail-in ballot at a secure dropbox, at early voting locations, and at their Supervisor of Elections office. If you have already mailed in your ballot, many supervisors of elections office have ways to track it. Again, the mail-in ballot must be returned by the time polls close at 7 p.m. on Election Night.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – ***8 p.m. update 10/21/2020***The Associated Press reports Russian and Iran have obtained some voter registration data, the AP report shows the move was made to interfere in the Presidential election. Brevard Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott says she wants to reassure voters that their vote is private, what is public record are the voter registration rolls. “I personally and my fellow supervisors have lobbied to try and protect voters' personal information," Scott said. We are committed to making sure every Floridian can vote and every vote is counted," Waibel said.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Monday, Oct. 5 was the last day for Florida voters to register to vote in the 2020 General Election. Being the last day, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections office was very busy, both inside and outside. Orange County’s Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles said the department will have record breaking numbers of registered voters for the 2020 General Election. Cowles said the number of registered voters is constantly changing due to people registering online, in person and through mandated sites like libraries. As of Monday at noon there were already at over 849,000 registered, compared to 776,721 in 2016.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. The Supervisor of Elections in Osceola County is encouraging residents to consider vote-by-mail or to participate in early voting amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to the countys emergency management department. There has been more than 6,600 cases of COVID-19 in the county. The office of emergency management hopes this can limit the amount of people in one polling location at a time. Early voting locations in the county have been found at this link. On election day, county officials said the following precautions will be taken:

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Many Florida voters who opted to make their votes count on an early ballot before next week’s presidential primary find themselves without a candidate in the race after several candidates officials ended their campaigns this week. Orange County’s Supervisor of Elections said his office has been receiving calls from voters asking for a chance to vote again before Florida’s March 17 presidential preference primary. “Understand the national parties gave the state the list of candidates for the ballot of Democrats and Republicans back in December," Cowles said. “If they voted early by spending their vote by mail-in they can’t get it back," Cowles said. All voters should check their respective county supervisor of elections web sites for locations for early voting.
