Lake County officials are getting ready to accept applications for Phase II of the funds from the CARES ACT. County officials said the eligibility criteria for businesses to obtain funding from a $16 million program will be expanded on Sept. 8. The county listed a chart at this link so businesses can see if they meet the criteria to apply for funds. County officials said they are planning how to most effectively allocate an additional $48 million in CARES Act funding. Anyone with questions can call the Lake County CARES Act helpline at 352-268-9299, employees take calls 8:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Students are set to return to school in Central Florida in August and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has posted a list of safety tips as kids return to class amid the pandemic. Districts should also also have clean and disinfecting plans in place for commonly touched areas of the school. Each district should have a contact tracing plan in place, according to the CDC. The CDC said around 95 percent of COVID-19 cases in the country are adult patients, but students could be asymptomatic. Health officials note this is easier at elementary school compared to middle school and high school.

An emergency meeting was held on Monday night to see how fall sports could move forward. Another meeting will be held later this week. News 6 Sports Anchor Ryan Welch said there was talk of possibility extending the end of the fall season. More than 4,000 people tuned into the emergency meeting online on Monday.

School officials said rehearsals and ceremonies will be held at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center from July 6-11. With more than 4,000 graduates and their families, there is no way to meet every persons desires and expectations for how graduation ceremonies should be conducted. Volusia County Schools posted this link showing the rehearsal time and graduation ceremony time for each high school. School officials will post a link to the livestream of the graduation ceremonies at a later time.

He said, when they reached out to the Growing Together Academy about summer programs. Trimble said summer camp for his son will include more STEM related activities, and projects where it’s easier to social distance. The city of Winter Springs announced their summer programs have been cancelled opting to do things virtually.
