Prosecutors said Alexander-Wilcox confessed to kidnapping and rape, along with four other shootings and an armed carjacking, the newspaper reported. Federal Magistrate Judge Jared M. Strauss called the kidnapping “violent, and indeed horrific,”and ordered Alexander-Wilcox without bond pending trial. A detention hearing for James is scheduled for Monday.
Florida man accused of trying to kidnap child from hotel
TAMPA, Fla. A man has been arrested on multiple charges after he entered a hotel room near Tampa on Sunday morning and took a child, sheriff's officials said. The child's mother called 911 at 9:41 a.m. and said the man had walked into her hotel room and picked up the child. She was able to get the child away from the man, who ran from the hotel, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The law deprives the public of information that had long been made available under Floridas public records law. Thankfully, the mother and child were not hurt during the course of this incident, Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement.
Orlando man turns himself in after kidnapping ex-girlfriend, deputies say
DELTONA, Fla. – A man who was wanted on several charges after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from her home has turned himself in, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Joshua A. Miranda Rivera, 33, was at large and wanted by authorities, according to a news release. As she was driving, Rivera took her phone and began texting and calling the man he believed she had cheated on him with, records show. When the man finally answered, Rivera told him, “You think you’re going to talk to my woman you got another thing coming" then hung up on him, according to the affidavit. She said Rivera told her he would shoot her and the person she had been texting,” investigators said.
