The crash was reported around 6 a.m. Monday on I-4 east, which was closed at Kaley Street. Two lanes were reopened about 30 minutes later and all eastbound lanes were reopened before 8:30 a.m. Eastbound on-ramps at Michigan Avenue were also reopened.

By about 12:30 p.m., repairs were finished and all lanes were reopened.

Orlando police said a yellow Chevrolet Camaro hit the white Jeep shortly before 6 a.m., before it fell off the interstate. The Camaro also hit a white Ford Escape, records show.

The 47-year-old man driving the Camaro and the 33-year-old man driving the Jeep were taken to area hospitals. The Jeep driver is in stable condition while the Camaro driver’s injuries were not considered life threatening. The female driving the Ford was not injured.

“The vehicle appears to have left I-4, crashing down on Kaley,” News 6 traffic safety expert Trooper Steve said.

Wesley Cole witnessed the crash at a nearby gas station and ran to help.

“Sparks were flying about 20 feet up in the air. That’s the first thing I saw. You can see the Jeep actually rising above the guardrail and you knew it was coming over,” Cole said. “It hit the pylon and flipped over backwards, that’s when it ejected the driver. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen, but someone was looking out for him, for sure.”

Records show two people called 911 immediately after the crash and reported that an officer was already arriving on scene.

“There’s been a serious accident. Somebody just hopped off of I-4. It’s on the corner of Kaley and I-4, basically. It looks like a Jeep or SUV or something,” a witness said.

Police said they’re still investigating the cause of the crash.
