MINNEOLA, Fla. – A 48-year-old Leesburg man was killed Friday morning when his pickup truck was rear-ended by a van on U.S. Highway 27 in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck was reported around 6:05 a.m. on U.S. 27 at Lake Minneola Shores near Minneola.

Troopers said the man was stopped at a red light when the van, driven by a 65-year-old Clermont woman, failed to stop and struck the back of his pickup.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to an FHP crash report.
The crash report didn’t specify if the woman was injured.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report stated.
Two southbound lanes of U.S. 27 were blocked and Lake Minneola Shores was blocked west of the intersection.
